Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU)
Established in 1979 in Northern Cyprus as a state University, Eastern Mediterranean University is a leading institution in the region offering programs mainly in English. With its highly developed infrastructure, prominent academic staff members, 16,000 students from 115 and 480 academics from 25 different countries, quality programs in English, student exchange programs, social and cultural activity opportunities, international accreditations, an international teaching context, and a diploma recognised throughout the world, EMU prepares its students for their international careers by educating them in becoming creative and competitive individuals with entrepreneurial skills. EMU is a full member of the International Association of Universities, the European University Association, Community of Mediterranean Universities and the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World. Giving special importance to international recognition, EMU has received the accreditation of various prominent international accrediting bodies. EMU is only one of five universities in the region to have been awarded the prestigious ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) in the field of engineering.
Department of Architecture, Eastern Mediterranean University
The Faculty of Architecture began its academic activities under the Faculty of Engineering in 1991, and transformed into a Faculty in 1997 with Department of Architecture and Interior Architecture. It contributes to education and research with its reputable departments and research centres, Housing Education Research and Advisory Centre (HERA-C), The Design and Research Centre (TASAR) and Research Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Built Environment (ISBE). Today, the faculty also contributes to higher education and research with its 7 graduate programs and Doctoral Program of Architecture. The Faculty has 615 undergraduate and 187 graduate students from a wide range of countries and a variety of faculty members, 32 full-time academic staff, 16 part-time staff and 32 research assistants. The Faculty has many accreditations, including NAAB ICERT, MiAK, AQAS, CIDA and memberships such as EAAE, ENHR and IFI.
